About this plant
May Night salvia opens deep violet-purple spikes over aromatic gray-green foliage in late spring, one of the first big color moments in the perennial border. Clumps stay compact, around 18 to 24 inches, and bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds work the flowers steadily.
Full sun and decent drainage are all it asks. Shear the spent spikes after the first flush and it will bloom again through summer. The scented foliage keeps deer and rabbits away, and established plants take heat and dry spells in stride.
