‘Egao Corkscrew’ is a conversation piece twice over: rich pink semi-double flowers in fall and early winter, carried on curiously twisted, zigzag branches that make the bare structure as interesting as the bloom. Flower arrangers love cutting it.
It takes more sun than a japonica — mostly sunny to lightly shaded spots are fine — in acidic, well-drained soil. Give it a location where the branch structure can be seen up close: beside a path, at a corner, or in a large container.
