About this plant
‘D.D. Blanchard’ may be the most beautiful foliage in southern magnolias: large, deeply glossy leaves with vivid orange-brown felted backs, a strong pyramidal form, and big lemon-scented summer flowers.
Full sun to light shade, rich well-drained soil, and space — it makes a 40+ foot statement tree. The two-tone foliage alone justifies planting it where low light catches the leaf backs.
