Guacamole is a fast-growing hosta with glossy, apple-green leaves edged in a darker green margin, the colors of a ripe avocado. It builds quickly into a broad mound four to five feet across, with tall white bloom stalks in summer.

It colors best with a few hours of morning sun, brighter than most hostas prefer, then shade through our hot afternoons. Steady moisture and soil with compost worked in keep the leaves large and glossy. Cut back after frost.
