Golden Tiara is a small, quick hosta that forms a neat mound of heart-shaped green leaves edged in gold, bright enough to read from across the yard. Lavender flower spikes rise above the foliage in summer and pull in hummingbirds.

It multiplies quickly for a hosta, so it makes a tidy edging along a shaded walk within a couple of seasons. Plant in shade to morning sun, in soil with some organic matter, and keep it watered through Birmingham summers. Protect from deer and slugs as you would any hosta.
