Ivory Prince is a Lenten rose that blooms when little else does, opening ivory flowers from rose-blushed buds in late winter and holding them for weeks. The blooms face outward rather than nodding, carried above leathery, blue-green evergreen foliage on dark stems. It makes a polished clump for the shade garden.

Plant it in shade to part shade in well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter; winter sun under deciduous trees suits it well. Once established it handles dry shade and summer heat, and deer leave it strictly alone. Trim tired old leaves in January so the flowers show.
