Julia Child is the floribunda rose the famous cook picked herself, and it fits her: warm butter-gold blooms, ruffled and full, with a sweet licorice-and-spice fragrance. It flowers in flushes from spring until frost on a rounded, self-cleaning shrub around three feet tall.

It is also one of the easier roses to live with, showing strong disease resistance in our humid summers. Give it six hours of sun, decent soil, and a feeding after each flush. Prune it back by a third in late winter.
