Bald Cypress

Bald cypress is the South's great survivor: soft, feathery green foliage that turns rich rust in fall, a strong pyramidal form, and roots that handle standing water and drought alike. Given time it becomes monumental.

Full sun in almost any soil, wet or dry. Use it where lesser trees fail — low spots, pond edges, compacted new-construction lots — or simply as a fast, graceful shade tree.
