Leyland cypress remains the fast, feathery classic for big screens: soft gray-green foliage, a dense pyramid, and speed few evergreens match.
Give it full sun, well-drained soil, and generous spacing — crowded, poorly drained plantings are where Leylands get into trouble. For very long hedges we often suggest mixing in ‘Green Giant’ arborvitae or ‘Yoshino’ cryptomeria for resilience.
