Yoshino cherry is the famous one — pale pink flowers fading nearly white, lightly fragrant, opening early before the leaves unfurl. Fast-growing to 25–30 feet with a broad vase shape, it blooms spectacularly for its season.

Full sun and well-drained soil. Flowering cherries are not long-lived trees; they earn their place in bloom rather than longevity, so site it where you'll see it at peak spring.
