About this plant
‘Soft Caress’ redesigned the mahonia: slender, bamboo-like evergreen leaflets with no spines at all, topped in late fall and winter with fragrant yellow flower spikes the hummingbirds and bees find.
Shade to morning sun in moist, well-drained soil. Elegant in woodland borders, courtyards, and containers, about 3 feet of fine texture where shade gardens need it most.
