Monstera deliciosa is the big tropical with the famous split leaves, glossy green and increasingly perforated with holes and notches as the plant matures. A climbing vine in the wild, indoors it grows into a substantial floor plant with real presence.

Bright, indirect light produces the largest, most divided leaves; in dim corners new leaves stay small and solid. Let the top couple of inches of soil dry between waterings, use a chunky, fast-draining mix, and give it a moss pole or support to climb. Wipe the leaves occasionally to keep them clean.
