About this plant
June is a small to medium hosta with gold-centered leaves rimmed in blue-green, and the contrast shifts through the season as the centers brighten. It forms a tidy mound around a foot tall with lavender flowers in summer, and the thick leaf substance helps it stand up to slugs.
Morning sun brings out the gold center; deeper shade keeps it more chartreuse. Either way, protect it from hot afternoon sun and keep the soil evenly moist in rich, well-drained ground. It is a natural for pots, path edges, and the front of a shade bed.
