About this plant
Japanese yew is the dense, shade-tolerant conifer that shears into formal hedges and topiary better than almost anything else — flat dark-green needles, slow growing, holds a line for decades. Reaches 3–6 feet depending on how you prune it.
Sun to shade in well-drained soil; wet feet kill it reliably. All parts except the red aril are toxic — worth knowing with children or pets around.
