Bridal Veil astilbe sends up airy, open plumes of pure white in early to midsummer, held about two feet above deeply cut, fern-like foliage. The loose, drooping flower form gives it a softer look than the stiff-plumed types, and it glows in a shady bed at dusk.

Like all astilbes it wants moisture and shade, especially from our afternoon sun. Plant it in rich, loamy soil, mulch well, and keep it watered through summer; it will even take a wet spot. Deer and rabbits leave it be.
