Chapel Hill Yellow is one of the hardy lantanas that returns each year in Birmingham gardens. It forms a low, spreading mound around 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide, covered in clear yellow flower clusters from late spring until frost, and butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds crowd it all season.

Plant it in full sun; heat, humidity, and dry spells barely slow it down, and deer and rabbits avoid the aromatic foliage. Leave the stems standing over winter to protect the crown, then cut back hard once new growth shows in spring.
