Green Velvet is a full-bodied boxwood that grows into a naturally rounded shape, three to four feet each way, with fine green foliage that holds its color through winter instead of bronzing. It is the standby for low hedges, parterre lines, and anchoring the corners of a bed.

It grows in sun or part shade and asks mainly for drainage, so plant slightly high in heavy clay. Shear in late spring if you want formal lines, or let it round off naturally. Mulch keeps the shallow roots cool through summer.
