Blueberry Smoothie is a rose of Sharon with fully double, ruffled lavender-blue flowers — the nearest thing to true blue the series offers. It blooms midsummer through fall when the garden runs thin, reaching 8–10 feet tall by 4–6 wide.

Full to part sun, nearly any soil including clay. Heat and drought tolerant once established, it draws hummingbirds and butterflies. Prune in late winter since it blooms on new wood; use it as a tall screen or specimen where you need color when other shrubs have quit.
