Japanese Maple ‘Bloodgood’

‘Bloodgood’ is the standard-bearer red Japanese maple: deep burgundy leaves that hold their color through summer better than most, igniting crimson in fall, on an upright, elegantly layered tree to about 15–20 feet.

Morning sun with afternoon shade protects the color and the leaf edges in our heat; moist, well-drained soil and mulch finish the recipe. A four-season specimen for entries, courtyards, and understory plantings.
