About this plant
Bay laurel is the culinary bay — the leaves in your spice jar come off this plant, and fresh ones are better. Left alone it makes a dense evergreen 10–15 feet tall and 6–8 feet wide.
Full sun to part sun, well-drained soil. It takes clipping well, and it is marginal in a hard winter here, so most people grow it in a pot that moves under cover — often clipped as a standard or a cone.
