The crocodile fern gets its name honestly: each broad, strappy frond is netted with raised veining that looks remarkably like crocodile hide, in a fresh light green. It grows from a central rosette into a full, arching plant that reads as lush without being fussy about it.

Give it bright, indirect light and keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy, letting just the surface dry between waterings. It appreciates humidity, so a bathroom window, a pebble tray, or an occasional misting suits it well. Average room temperatures are fine; just keep it out of cold drafts.
