Creeping phlox spreads in a dense mat across borders and rock gardens, flowering in spring when you need color close to the ground. The blooms cover the foliage so thoroughly they nearly hide the needle-like leaves.

Plant in full sun and soil that drains well — it'll perform better with less water than richer, wetter conditions. Once established, it needs little attention and returns year after year.
