Ogon is a low sedum grown for its golden foliage rather than its flowers, forming a tight, fleshy mat of succulent leaves that stays compact and reads bright through the growing season. Its drought-proof habit makes it a dependable filler where most perennials would sulk.

Put it in a raised bed, trough, or on a wall, where the crown can dry out between rains, since clay that stays wet over winter is what rots sedums here. Full sun to part sun suits it, and a light trim keeps the mat neat through Birmingham's humid summers.
