Poquito Butter Yellow is a compact agastache, a hyssop with upright spikes of tubular flowers over aromatic foliage, and the name says the color for you. It stays low and tidy, and it comes into bloom around midsummer, when hummingbirds and bees start working it hard.

Give it full sun and sharp drainage above all, since agastache dies from wet winter soil long before cold touches it. Lean ground suits it, so skip the rich feeding. Plant it at the front of a border, along a sunny gravel path, or in a container with a gritty mix.
