The old man cactus earns its name from long white hairs that cover the stem like a fuzzy beard, softening the spines underneath. Slow-growing and sculptural, it reaches 12–18 inches tall over years.

Bright window light, water sparingly when bone-dry, and keep it away from cold glass in winter. It asks almost nothing and rewards neglect.
