Ice Dance is an evergreen sedge with glossy dark green blades edged in clean white, forming low, arching clumps under a foot tall that slowly link into a bright, grassy ground cover. It reads like an ornamental grass built for shade, and it stays tidy all twelve months.

Plant it in part shade to shade (it takes sun with steady moisture) in soil that never dries to dust. Deer leave it alone. Use it along shaded walks, under Japanese maples, or massed in beds beneath trees. Comb or trim out old blades in late winter.
