Muehlenbeckia, or wire vine, is a Toe Ticklers groundcover that weaves dark, threadlike stems set with tiny, round, glossy leaves into a dense low tangle a few inches tall. Its fine texture is a lovely counterpoint to stone, gravel, and broad-leaved neighbors.

It's flexible about light, growing in part sun to shade, and about moisture, tolerating damp spots. Use it between pavers, spilling from containers and baskets, or as a filler at bed edges. Trim it whenever it wanders past where you want it.
