Calathea Dottie has unusually dark foliage: rounded leaves in a green so deep it reads nearly black, each striped with a thin hot-pink ring and midrib, with purple undersides. Like other prayer plants, the leaves lift and lower through the day as the light changes.

Dottie asks for the standard calathea contract: bright, indirect light, consistently moist but never soggy soil, warmth, and real humidity, so a bathroom window, humidifier, or pebble tray helps. It is sensitive to chlorinated tap water, so filtered water or rainwater keeps the leaf edges clean.
