Blue Ice is a compact bluestar, opening clusters of dark buds into starry, ice-blue flowers in late spring, a shade of true blue that perennials rarely offer. The plant makes a dense, shrub-like mound 1 to 2 feet around, with narrow foliage that turns clear yellow in fall.
It is a plant-it-and-leave-it perennial: sun to part sun, any drained soil, real drought tolerance once rooted in, and no interest from deer or rabbits. The stems never need staking. Shear lightly after bloom if you like an extra-tight mound, and enjoy the fall color as a second act.
