Ruby Slippers is a Solomon's seal with graceful arching stems flushed ruby red, hung in spring with rows of small white bells. It brings elegant architecture to the shade garden, rising 1 to 2 feet and slowly spreading into a refined colony.

Grow it in shade to part shade in soil with some organic matter; it tolerates clay and dry shade once established better than its delicate look suggests. Deer generally leave it alone, hummingbirds check the bells, and fall turns the foliage soft gold.
