About this plant
Muskogee is one of the tall, tree-form crape myrtles, reaching 15 to 20 feet, with long panicles of light lavender-pink bloom through the heat of summer. Glossy green leaves turn red in fall, and the smooth bark peels to a polished light gray over cinnamon, so it earns its place in winter too.
Plant it in full sun for the heaviest flowering; it shrugs off Birmingham summers once established. Give it space to develop its natural vase shape and limit pruning to suckers and crossing branches rather than topping, which spoils both the form and the bark.
