Gold Rush is a compact black-eyed Susan smothered in golden-yellow daisies with dark centers, blooming heavily from summer into fall on a plant that stays under two feet. The narrow foliage stays clean-looking through humid Southern summers.

Give it full sun and just about any soil; it takes clay, drought, and deer in stride. Deadheading extends the show, though it hardly pauses either way. Bees, butterflies, and seed-eating birds all get their turn at it.
