White Fusion is the most painterly of the calatheas, its leaves marbled in white and green with lilac-flushed undersides, no two alike. Like its prayer plant kin, the foliage folds up at night and reopens with the morning light.

It rewards an attentive grower: bright, indirect light to hold the variegation, evenly moist soil, and above all steady humidity from a pebble tray or humidifier. Use filtered water if your tap is hard, and keep it away from vents and cold drafts.
