NewGen Freedom is a newer boxwood selected specifically for resistance to the pests and diseases that trouble older varieties, including strong tolerance of leafminer. It grows a bit faster than classic boxwoods into a full, rounded shrub in the three to five foot range, with glossy deep green foliage.

It shears cleanly for formal hedges and topiary, or grows naturally rounded with no help at all. Plant in sun to part sun in well-drained soil, slightly high in clay, and mulch the shallow roots. An annual trim after the spring flush holds whatever shape you choose.
