Pristine Lipstick is a penstemon with clear pink tubular blooms lined up on upright stems from summer into fall, exactly the flower shape hummingbirds patrol for. Plants stay compact, around one to two feet, so it fits the front half of a sunny border.

Full sun and well-drained soil are the essentials; like most penstemons it would rather run a little dry than sit wet, especially over winter. Deadhead spent spikes for repeat bloom. Deer and rabbits leave it alone.
