Scarlet spikes that rise above gray-green foliage, Roman Red salvia draws hummingbirds and butterflies through the warm months and into fall. Once established it asks little: ordinary soil, decent light, and a break from overwatering.

Plant in April for summer color, or grab one in August to extend the show before cold settles in. Shear it back after the first flush and it'll branch out for weeks more blooms.
