About this plant
‘Romeo’ cleyera is a narrow, upright evergreen that stays a tidy 4–5 feet wide while climbing to 12–15 feet, which makes it the answer for a strip of ground too skinny for a normal shrub. Its glossy dark leaves are dense from base to top, and new growth comes in bronze-red.
Give it sun to part shade and plant it where a column is wanted, such as beside a window or along a narrow property line. Keep the spacing tight so the trunks read as a single screen.
