Dianthus ‘Neon Star’

Neon Star dianthus forms a tight cushion of silvery blue-green foliage that stays evergreen here, topped in spring and summer with saturated, glowing pink blooms visible from across the yard. The whole plant stays under a foot.

Give it full sun and sharp drainage; it's a natural for rock gardens, bed edges, and containers, and it would rather run dry than sit wet. Shear off spent flowers to encourage another flush. Deer and rabbits leave it alone.
