Twist of Lime is a coral bells grown for foliage that stays bright in the shade: ruffled lime-to-chartreuse leaves in a neat evergreen mound under a foot tall, with slender spikes of small white flowers rising above it in season. The color holds through winter, so the bed never goes empty.

Plant it in part shade to shade in moist, well-drained soil; a little morning light sharpens the lime tone. Deer pass on it, while bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the bloom spikes. Snip off tired leaves in early spring.
