Rocket City is an Alabama-bred daylily out of Huntsville, and it wears the name well: big bittersweet-orange blooms with a deeper orange band, opening through midsummer over grassy clumps around 2 feet tall.

Grow it in full sun to part sun in nearly any soil; established clumps shrug off drought and rabbits. Deadhead spent blooms for a tidier look, and divide every few years to keep flowering heavy. It reads especially well massed along a drive or fence line.
