Butterfly Weed ‘Hello Yellow’

Hello Yellow is a butterfly weed in a clear, bright yellow instead of the usual orange, blooming through summer on sturdy stems about two feet tall. As a milkweed, it's a host plant for monarch caterpillars as well as a nectar stop for the adults.

Plant it in full sun and lean, well-drained soil; it's built for heat, drought, and rocky ground. It emerges late in spring, so mark its spot. Skip the spray around it so the monarchs can finish their work.
