‘Scarlet Fire’ is a kousa dogwood with deep pink to magenta bracts that hold their color well into the season — unusually intense for the species. It blooms after the leaves emerge, reaching roughly 20 feet tall with a spreading form.

Morning sun with afternoon shade in moist, well-drained acidic soil, mulched. Kousas tolerate more heat than native dogwoods and resent drought and trunk damage; site it where you can keep it undisturbed and watered through dry spells.
