Marengo is the variegated Algerian ivy, with large, glossy gray-green leaves broadly edged in creamy white on wine-red stems. It grows fast and lush, trailing from a basket or climbing a support, and the bold variegation reads from across the room.

Indoors, bright indirect light keeps the cream margins wide; in low light the leaves green up. Water when the soil surface dries, and rinse the foliage occasionally to keep it glossy. It also enjoys summering outdoors on a shaded porch.
