Emerald zoysia is the fine-bladed zoysia, a dense, dark emerald-green turf that feels like carpet underfoot. Its blades are noticeably thinner than Z-52's, and the turf grows tight enough to crowd out weeds and stray grasses. It takes full Alabama sun while also tolerating light shade, and it is drought tolerant once rooted.
Water established turf about an inch per week, counting rainfall, and make sure the ground drains rather than ponds. Fertilize on a warm-season schedule beginning after spring green-up. Lay it during the growing season and keep it consistently damp until it roots down.
