Red trailing aptenia spreads across baskets and hanging planters with succulent leaves and small scarlet flowers from spring through fall heat. The stems reach out loosely, so give it room to cascade or tumble down the sides of a container.

Sun-loving and drought-tolerant once established, it needs little water or feeding—just good drainage and a spot that gets strong light. In containers or window boxes, it'll keep flowering even when other annuals wilt.
