Eve's pin is an upright, branching cactus with slender cylindrical stems studded with awl-shaped, fleshy green leaves, an unusual trait among cacti. Native to the Andes, it grows over time into a small architectural tree, all clean lines and sculptural angles.

Give it full sun to light afternoon shade, a gritty well-draining mix, and deep but infrequent water, letting the soil dry completely between drinks. Reduce water in winter and keep it above freezing. It summers happily outdoors on a Birmingham patio; bring it in before frost.
