A leafy green that thrives in cool weather, Swiss chard produces tender, mild leaves through fall and into early winter here. The stems are edible too—mild and slightly sweet.

Plant in full sun and keep the soil consistently moist. Harvest outer leaves as they mature to encourage the plant to keep producing. Available October.
