Stella d'Oro is the little golden daylily planted by the thousands for a reason: it starts blooming in late spring and keeps sending up ruffled, gold-yellow flowers off and on until frost. Clumps stay compact, about a foot tall, so it works along walks, at the front of borders, and in mass plantings.

Site it in full sun to part sun in nearly any soil, including our red clay. Deadheading spent scapes encourages the repeat rounds of bloom. It is drought tolerant once established and shrugs off rabbits; divide every few years when clumps get crowded.
