Corkscrew rush is a curiosity that works: dark green, leafless stems twist and coil in every direction like a head of green ringlets. It stays evergreen here, adds wiry, offbeat texture to water features and containers, and looks especially good rising from a glazed pot.

This is one of the few plants that genuinely prefers wet feet. Use it at pond margins, in rain gardens, in low soggy spots, or in containers where drainage is poor; standing water does not bother it. Full sun keeps the curl tight. Cut old stems to the base in late winter to refresh the tangle.
