Amethyst Kiss is a spiderwort with three-petaled, blue-violet flowers scattered over arching, grassy foliage. Each bloom lasts a morning, but new buds open daily through summer, and the clump stays tidy at around eighteen inches without the sprawl of older spiderworts.

It is famously easygoing: sun or shade, most soils, drought once established, and no interest from deer or rabbits. If the foliage tires in August heat, shear the clump to a few inches; fresh leaves and often a rebloom follow with fall's cooler nights.
